The Defra EMS Research Project

Serious about business, Futures Supplies has been invited to take part in a Defra research project to determine and share the effectiveness of certified Environmental Management Systems at delivering both business and environmental benefits.

The study will involve a two-day, independent site visit, interviews with the team, as well as the collection and verification of EMS performance data.

The aggregated results of this study will be published and widely shared to ensure maximum impact in increasing the uptake of EMS in both the UK and beyond, as well as providing clear recognition of Futures Supplies commitment to continualy improving its environmental performance.

We are delighted to have been invited to be part of this project, which ultimately seeks to improve environmental performance on a national and global level.

Andy Cycles to John O’Groats for Action Medical Research

Futures Supplies’ Office Manager, Andrew Hills is taking part in the ‘UK End 2 End’ 1,000-mile charity bike ride from Lands’ End to John O’Groats. Organised by leading children’s charity Action Medical Research, the event runs from 22nd to 30th May 2011

Starting on the most south-westerly tip of England, the participants will cycle almost 1,000 miles through the beautiful British countryside. Andy will pedal his way through stunning counties such as Cornwall and Devon, head north along the Welsh border before skirting the Lake District into Scotland encountering lochs and highlands before hitting the North Coast and the most northern point of Britain, John O’Groats.

Action Medical Research is a leading UK charity focusing on child health and Andrew is hoping to raise £ 5,000 to help fund their vital research. Training since summer 2010, Andy has taken part in several of the charities 100-mile day rides in preparation for the massive 115 mile average a day he will be cycling.

Business Community Assistant Programme

Working with South London Business to deliver on site job training to over 300 unemployed young people between the ages of 18 and 24 from South London, we have taken out first candidate from the Future Jobs Fund and would like to welcome Steve to the team.

We hope our participation in this programme will help the future prospects of the young unemployed and provide a stable environment to develop a skill set and confidence for the future.

 

Apprenticeships Programme Launched by South London Business

In conjunction with South London Business, who established the first Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA) in the country, we are delighted to welcome Alex on board as our very first apprentice.

The purpose of the ATA is to provide young people between the ages of 16 and 18 with real paid work and training with commercial partner organisations and education providers, with a view to catalysing long-term employment, social cohesion and regeneration in London and the South.

We are delighted to be participating in this worthy scheme.
